Just read on the Chronicle and on the Tulane University website that Tulane is cancelling classes for the entire fall semester.  It also appears that Tulane will be participating in athletics during the fall

My niece and nephew are transferring to the U. of Miami (FLA) from Tulane at least for this semester - it was a very smooth process.

Speaking of athletics...I understand that evacuees in Columbus and other parts of north Mississippi either have been or will be asked to leave their hotel rooms for fans who have reservations for the MSU football game this weekend.  Can anyone confirm this rumor?

I read on CNN's web page where the hotels are not going to remove the evacutees, but the people who had tickets are giving the tickets to the folks who have been displaced and letting them remain in the hotels.

That is what I read.

Just the opposite...look at the MSU web site...fans are being asked to give up their hotel rooms for the evacuees.

Here is Tulane's emergency website, for those of us concerned with our friends and colleagues there.

Also, Tulane's history department is running a blog on HNN here
