Video footage with Hattiesburg/Laurel damage is on the WLBT website now (click on "Skycopter: Hattiesburg Area Damage"). I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but I'm sure they'll show USM.

Andrea,

Great footage. A couple of good shots of USM, which appears mostly intact. Hard to get your mind around how bad it is with residences there, however.

I heard from a prof tonight who said that the administration is meeting tomorrow morning and will have a better idea of when school can reopen then. Let us all hope it is sooner rather than later.

Appreciate your staying in touch with the situation there and keeping others of us at a distance posted.

Glad to help out in these small ways...it's all I can do. I feel so helpless up here in N'ville with so many family members and friends down in southern MS. I just have to be thankful that so far, everyone who I've heard from is safe and sound. There are still a few friends I'd love to hear from in the 'burg, but I have to assume that they are okay (if you are reading this, DT, you know who you are! Call me!).

My heart is broken for all that has been lost (especially the loss of precious lives), but I have to believe that the unflagging spirits of the people in MS will carry on through this destruction.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you,

Truth (aka Andrea)

Andrea,

Agree with you on all points. I have similar emotions here in Austin. I've heard from many of my friends in Hburg, but one or two are weighing heavily on my mind even tonight.

The effects of this tragedy are far-reaching. I know it is a comfort to those in the midst of it to know that people all over the country are watching and trying to make contact. The feeling of helplessness is going to be with us for a while yet. I know everyone on the board is doing all they can.

Looking forward to better days!

Friends,

Whenever you see this (and for most of you it probably will be days), please know that we have been thinking of you constantly.  The scope of this tragedy is beyond belief.   Four shelters are open  here in Bryan/College Station--80 miles from Houston.

I have been trying to get word of Suzanne Hirsch, the former development officer of the College of the Arts and later of CoAL, now working for the New Orleans Ballet Association and living in the New Orleans area.  If anyone  has heard from Suzanne, please let me know.

For those of you who know Ted-Larry Pebworth, who works with Gary on the Variorum, he and his partner are coming here to rent an apartment until they can get back into their French Quarter home.

Those of you who can access this board, please keep the rest of us posted.

Mary Ann Stringer

And if anyone knows anything of the whereabouts of Chris and Valerie Goertzen, who had a home in Slidell, please let me know.

Has anyone heard directly from LVN, Stephen Judd, Invictus, SCM, or any of the other regular posters to this board?  I am hoping that all the regular posters -- and everyone else -- is okay.

I can account for eight social work faculty, all of whom are well but in various states of distress vis-a-vis homes and automobiles. They are Joyous Bethel, Joe Pat Bohanon, Missy Rowley, Alan Bougere, Susan Hrostowski, Wesley Belton, Tim Rehner, and DeVonne Fesi Conner. DeVonne's husband Syd works for Gary Stringer at A&M and I got through to her about midnight last night as she was driving into Navasota, Texas where they have a home.

If anyone has heard from Mike Forster, Jerome Kolbo, Delories Williams, Lori Woodruff, Pat Davis (Gulf Park) or Ray Scurfield (Gulf Park), please post here. I'm in contact with most of the others and can get word around.

I have heard from a few MSW students. Stephanie Koplitz (MSW Alum) at the coast is okay. So are Jen Karlovich (3rd year MSW student) and Kelly Smith (2nd year MSW student). If any of you hear of others, please let us all know.

Thanks to everyone for helping us all stay in touch.
