I am back from my short fishing trip and we are off to a new start on the coast. PJ will be good for us in the short run.
I have contributed to this board only very recently and only on a very few times.
My intentions are honorable. I want the best for USM.
I have advocated that the USM faculty get more agressive in our fight for "righting the wrongs" that have occurred. Additionally, I have submitted some postings that support a new delivery system on the Gulf Coast plus being a supporter of PJ.
As the new school year begins I hope that we can begin to be a little more positive as we post on this board. I reallize that when you have had your chain jerked and jerked again, that "we may want to strike back"
I have been through more than 98% than any of you with SFT. 2007 is not that far away. We really need a rebuilding plan. I would like to see it come from the "grass roots."
By the way......TW....see these dots....somebody really pulled your chain. Somebody picked up on a post that I made about "final analysis" and you bit. This is the type of thing that wastes the time of people on this board. If I have response to this last comment, it is a waste of our time.
It'd be better if you didn't speak quite so cryptically. Who, or what, is PJ? By the way, I agree with you concerning the need for a more positive attitude with an eye to the post-Thames future. However, when I advocated such an approach in the past (under a different screen name) I was attacked and accused of being a troll. I hope you have better luck.
Amidst all this feel-good blather, I thought it might be useful to transplant this quote by Dixie Chick from another thread:
"And while some folks are whistling Dixie, things can't change fast enough.
This Tier 4 rating means nothing. SACS means nothing. The powerbrtokers that put SFT in mean everything. Do not underestimate this group. They had a plan to put him in power, and they have a plan to keep him, and themselves, in power."
PJ is Pat Joachim. She is the newly appointed Interim Provost for the Gulf Coast.
As in previous posts, I fully support her as a person of high moral character and excellent leadership abilities. She will do a good job, under the circumstances.
I agree with you, Voter. If SFT hadn't been so myopic about his own personal power, the real plan would have gone far smoother than it has. SFT is only a part of this greater equation. I don't see a lot of these posts as being overly critical, in fact, most of them show a wary awareness of the reality that SFT remains the blowhard Man Behind the Curtain who became exposed far more quickly than the empowered had intended him to be. I see him as a pawn in this game - he certainly isn't the Queen [maybe King?], Bishop or Rook (maybe the tarnished Knight - I'm not sure), Now those who want to continue to maintain their power are scrambling to keep it intact while still not completely showing their hand. We need to question everything as we plan on moving forwards. Besides, SACS (and NCATE in Spring 2006) are quickly approaching.
... As the new school year begins I hope that we can begin to be a little more positive as we post on this board. ...
I never understand "being positive". Facts are facts. Positive and negative are in the minds of the listeners. Are you suggesting we ignore information if it gives some "negative" feelings? You want us to "filter our discussions"? Just what does this mean?
If it means saying what can be done to improve the situation, we have had many list of things that need to be done. However we need to crawl before we can walk and walk before the can run. Problems need to be fixed before we can start decorating.
