Since this is the "off topic posts" thread, I'll go ahead and give my contribution......Happy 66th birthday today to my all-time drumming idol, Ginger Baker of Cream, Blind Faith, Ginger Baker's Airforce, Baker-Gurvitz Army, Ginger Baker Trio...etc etc......Cream, by the way, recently (in early May) did a 4 night series of reunion gigs at Royal Albert Hall in London. A CD and DVD is due out in October of those gigs. Reviews of those gigs were very positive. And, if things can be worked out, Cream is also suppose to do 3 nights at Madison Square Garden in October.
So, there you have it ......for the one or two of you out there that may be interested

Gene Krupa, Bernard Purdie, Hal Blaine and Shelly Mann didn't have to use teeny bopper names such as Cream and Blind Faith. Their names stand on their own.

What's wrong with using a pseudonym? That's our favorite game around these here parts!
Let's not forget Sandy Nelson (real name), who was inspired to take up the drums at an early age by the immortal Gene Krupa (real name). This makes me want to go into the garage and dig out my old vinyl LP of "Let There Be Drums."
Mad Hatter wrote: Not to mention Ringo Starr. I'm sorry, did you mean "Richard Starkey" who replaced Pete Best in the Beatles?
Right on, Daddy O. Richard Starkey was his given name. Ringo Starr was his show name. Pete Best was their drummer before they made it big. Would you happen to know who was drummer for the Beatles at their famous Ed Sullivan show appearance?
Wasn't it Ringo? I thought I remembered seeing it on TV (not that I'm old or anything). I was probably too in love with George Harrison to notice the drummer.
