I saw a wonderful segment on WDAM news last night about the many great construction projects going on at USM. I'm thankful that Thames doesn't get bogged down in the pettiness that is so endemic among faculty members..He's the engineer and he keeps the university train moving forward. The faculty is a great, inert mass that has to be pulled along on the road to the future.

I didn't see the report so can't be specific with my question. Which of the construction projects discussed in the WDAM report were conceived and implemented by Shelby Thames, and which are the delayed fruits of the Lucas and Fleming administrations?

This member of the "great, inert mass" served on committees which proposed and fleshed out plans most of these projects far before the Thames administration. Don't insult our intelligence by trying to put forth these projects as evidence of vision on the part of this administration. We do give them credit for carrying out plans already made, and for furthering Fleming's plan to move toward a truly residential university.
this has to be satire. "He's the engineer and he keeps the university train moving forward"? i'd like to hear how he's accomplishing that apart from world class pavements, first class post lights, etc.
