I don't mind the idea of expanding the Ogletree House, but the artist rendering of the work they will do (as seen in Saturday's HA) is not very attractive.

I agree. The expansion looks like a cheapo low-rent bargain basement po-white-trash addition to a formerly classy structure. Is this only a preliminary rendering, or the final deal? I guess it's consistent with the black and gold double-wide mobile home USM is using as an administration building at the D'Lo campus.
You do realize the D'Lo thing is a joke, do you not?
Oh Yeah? Sez who? I'd wager this would come as a surprise to W.J. Johnson, Chancellor of the D'Lo branch, and our own Emma, who's interviewing for a faculty position there. I heard on the street today that LVN may be heading up the USM at D'Lo English department this Fall. Maybe she'll chime in and clear things up for us.
By the way, I agree with other posters about the design of the Ogletree House addition. If I may use a technical term from contemporary architecture, it's just plain butt-ugly.
Did anyone else notice that in USM's long PR story about this expansion and funds drive, there was not a single mention of Thames? Yet more proof he cares zero % about the foundation. (or, realization that his involvement would damage their chances?)

There was effectively a reference in Simmons' comment, and it was quite a telling one: "When I think about this university and I think about this alumni association, I tell myself presidents will come and go, but the alumni are here forever."
It sounds like an apologetic distancing from SFT. Would anyone imagine this comment being made even a few months ago?

I had hoped that Thames would go quietly and not make a move to regain his lost three years. However, a story I heard tonight at church gave me a sick feeling in my stomach. I believe a poster on the board named "walt" has been playing nostradamus lately posting outrageous predictions. Tonight I heard one at my church (think Old Hattiesburg -- no more details for fear of outing myself) that mirrored one of walt's predictions.
A prominent physician's wife was telling a friend that Shelby will get his full contract "as soon as that accreditation nonsense is taken care of."
This woman is part of the Warren Paving cabal and has a close relationship with the Thames crowd. Has anyone else heard something along these lines from other sources?
