My former chair told me that Dr. Panton is planning to retire in a year or two. My former chair thought that the history prof who runs The Abbey (Dr. Mackaman?) will run BS after Dr. Panton retires.

Well, you can just kiss goodbye to the abbey. From all acounts, Macaman (spelling) is a disaster.

Could you elaborate by supplying more information about this? I thought the Abbey program was going splendidly.

I heard that there were all sorts of problems with financial management--not from the Hattiesburg end but from on site in France.  People were contracted to do things--then practically had to resort to violence to get paid.  I've also heard from a very creditable source that there were complaints from students regarding personal matters.  All this comes from at least two years ago, so things might have changed.
