I graduated from USM a few years ago and have been living/working in Hattiesburg of late.  After a I graduated I considered enrollment in a grad business program.  So I applied at a number of places in the South and East.

Although I put off grad school, I guess my name remains in computer databases at places where I applied.  Today I got a letter from of them --Auburn, about their exMBA program.  In it they indicate that tuition for their exMBA program is $48,840.

This long story brings me to my question.  What tuition did you hear that Drs. Thames and Malone envisioned for USM's exMBA program, should it have gotten off the ground?  My guess would have been something more like regular tuition, or about $2,500-$3,000 per semester (I'm guessing, it's been awhile) for about 3 or 4 semesters ($7,500-$12,000, total).  What's the norm for these things?

I suspect that it was planned to be higher than a standard on-campus program because of the supply and demand. Every eMBA program that I have looked into is high, very high.

When I was still in Hattiesburg, I looked at UNO's eMBA, and I want to say it pushed $30k.

A friend of mine was considering the exMBA program at Georgia State and it was going to be about $53,000. What drives these programs, apparently, is corporations that need to get executives their MBA's quickly (or execs themselves who want them quickly). In many cases the corporations are paying the freight...and you can just imagine what that does to price.

By the way, my friend has decided to do the full-time MBA at GSU instead of the exMBA. It'll take more time (a couple years I think), but it will cost him about $15,000 instead of $53,000.

Caveat: The numbers in this post are approximations based on the memory of a half-heimers patient (me). They aren't intended to be exact, but they are close.
