Wow, Above the Mire has made a statement that can be backed up with evidence if he/she would provide examples form Robert Campbell’s post or blog. We now can see what really bothers AtM about RC's statements. This should be good since RC has written much. So AtM how about picking out one thing RC posted that you don't like because it is "unsubstantiated allegations" and all here can discuss it.
"Hove I responded to this idiot before? I've read his blatherings, but I don't think I've actually responded to them. He's not even a flea on the elephant of my life, but he stands for a lot of things I detest sure enough. Not the least in being a hyopocrit. He's always talking about lofty ideals like truth and acuracy, but he consistently throws out unsubstantuated allogations to back up his arguments. He's a fake, and a pretty pathetic one at that. If you like him, you can have him."
I think with "Above the Mire" we've discovered Seeker's younger sibling, albeit a much more arrogant, hateful, and rude sibling. He's also a much worse speller. In my mind I see "Frank the Tank" from that movie "Old School," if you lose Frank's sweetheart nature, sense of humor, and college education. I imagine seeing "Above the Mire" streaking down the street after a frat party would scar me for life....

AtM,
Can you at least give us some clues about your highly impressive accomplishments? At least tell us your field. You don't by any chance own your own investment company in Birmingham, do you? Are you good with guns?

One of the reasons I have enjoyed this board has been the general civility of the discussants and its freedom from chest thumping and self promotion.
I also think it has been usually accepted practice on this board (among serious discussants) that if you are going to cite something as evidence then you ought to present the evidence and not simply the citation. Otherwise, the discussions are reduced to nothing more than the "he said . . . she said" variety of school yard argument.
Attacks on people's credentials are generally unproductive anyhow -- ultimately they do not really address the heart of the point being made. A well argued idea can come from any number of possible sources -- bad arguments can be made by people with excellent backgrounds.

Now wouldn't that make for some great gossip. Maybe you ought to take that little brain storm and run with it. It's just like the stuff you and your colleagues love to spread around. Then if someone challenges it, you demand proof. Your ethics are suspect.

Their bull-headed, academically unsound decisions have come back to bite them in their collective arses? They figured out this "gold mine" is a university after all?

No, you're the one who boasted about your credentials -- and who attacked the credentials of a regular poster. You thus introduced the issue in two respects. Put up or shut up. Don't "toy" with us.

You are right, but sometimes it is difficult to ignore one whose pomposity is so much greater than his actual accomplishments. You are one of the few that post on this board that has any objectivity. I wish that you would read the allegations of your colleagues just in this thread, and point out to me where their evidence is cited. If I owe an apology for missing the evidence behind their allegations, I will be happy to fulfill that obligation.
Why on earth would anyone in Hattiesburg, Mississippi care what I say on this board?
Unless he or she has some involvement or some connection with USM, I can't see why.
Why would anyone bother to single me out from all of the posters on this board who have been critical of Shelby Thames, his appointees to the administration, and his backers in the community?
Unless I've criticized him or her by name on Liberty and Power (or done the same to a close friend or ally), I can't see why.
Kind of narrows the field, doesn't it?
Are you in danger of being fired--or of losing your business connection with the current USM administration--if you give us a link to your CV?

Don't provoke him, RC. I'd hate to see him climb to the top of the dome and . . . .

Actually it's so simple even you should be able to understand it. The aaup is a labor union, and you are an outside agitator. Outside of your little circle of misfits, nobody has much respect for either.

There you go again, RC. It's amazing how little you understand about anything. I don't care whether the posters on this board appreciate me or not. I just want one or two of the reasonable ones to see what you and your aaup really stand for. As far as myself, I already have most of what I need to live a very comfortable life in all respects. Appreciation on the aaup message board is not a void that I need to fill.

AtM,
It must really kill you to know that the "little circle of misfits" has basically been right all along about Shelby, while you (and others like you) have been wrong, wrong, wrong. Shelby has wasted well over a half million dollars of taxpayers' money, yet you are fixated on the alleged misdeeds of a "little circle of misfits." What a joke!
And we all know what a horrible effect "outside agitators" have had on Mississippi. Back in the old days they could just be lynched or shot, but nobody thinks that way anymore, do they?
Of course not. No one in this day and age would talk about lynching.
