The current timeline for the UKP project includes a Southern Miss employee portal which will be available this fall. A portal, sometimes referred to as an intranet, allows members of an organization to have customized private web experiences based on their role within the organization. An excellent example of a university portal would be at the University of California, San Diego:http://blink.ucsd.edu/
Our portal will be the private side of our web technologies and services accessible only to Southern Miss employees. It will allow us access to systems internal the university such as Email, SOAR, SOAR-FIN, etc. Additional features and content sections included within our portal will be based on the feedback we receive from you!
Here are some of the items that the system offers. If you wish for us to implement one or more of these items, we will listen. --Events Calendar (University Wide Events) --Special Alerts and Announcements (University closings due to weather, etc.) --Single sign-on (log in one time and obtain access to multiple systems, such as SOAR and Email) --Customized Web Layout Views --View Departmental Phone Bills --View Help Desk Work Orders --Access Travel Forms --Access Grant Announcements
