This just in, Polymer Science Faculty ordered to report for a Mandatory meeting by the CoST Dean on Monday. Rumors flying that another chair to be overthrown in that department for daring not to bow down to Shelby's "mini-me" and the good ole boy team of ole timers. Seems that "mini-me" Shelby* and the good ole boy team feel that candidates to replace current chair will not listen to them, and this is of course the current chairs fault. I am sure that it is just coincidental that the interim chair is out of town and will not make the Mandatory meeting - reason for dismissal might be not answering to a summons? I look forwad to watching the sparks fly across the street in Shelby's Mausoleum, the plastic palace may be melting soon.
* the concept of ""mini-me" Shelby" comes from the Poly Sci Students who have a very healthy view of what a meglomaniac is.

Who's "mini-me" in Polymer Science? Marek? Sarah? Given that the Blochhead Scotsman did his best as COS&T Dean to remove all competition from Polymers, how could he do anything to be removed from the chair, since he was clearly SFT's point man in the college?
Just finished an after happy hour chat with one of the "insiders", I'm tickled to find out I am in on something before everyone else knows. Seems that Shelby had a visit from "mini-me" and one of the good ole boys and to tell Shelby the changes would make him unwelcome in his own department. I do not understand the connection but it sounded like hindering the University's SACS appeal was going to be blamed on the current poli science chair.
From what I recall, "mini-me" Shelby goes back 4 or 5 years, there was a big stink about it in polymers then, almost causing the end of an annual skit night that their seniors put on.

Have VERY reliable information that the interim chair (who is out of town) has stated to a few people that on his return he will be interim chair for "one day" and then he's out. I take this to mean he's stepping down. My sources further speculate that there may not be a NEW chair. Polymers faculty may have to report directly to the Dean Gandy's office instead of a "chair" of Polymers. Face it, would you want to be chair when SFT returns to the Polymer Science Building named after him? Image the power struggle that could take place in two years!!!

I heard a rumor from an excellent source that when the Math chair steps down next week there will be no interim chair. Dean Gandy will be signature authority until the new chair reports sometime in August. How many departments will the dean of CoST be running?
Perhaps we are moving to a Chairless system. Think of the money savings, chain of command Prez - Dean - Plebes. A neutered provost is already in place and wouldn't be missed if he disappeared.
