Several important pieces of business were resolved at last week's Faculty Senate meeting and I am surprised that they have not gotten much attention on this board. Namely, the Senate elected officers for the 06-07 academic year as well as representatives to the PUC. Isn't anyone interested?

The president elect is Myron Henry and the secretary elect is Mary Beth Applin...we are very fortunate to have these two fine people serve in those positions. THe puke reps are Joe Olmi and Bobby Middlebrook, both of whom will represent us well. All faculty members (with the exception of one senior member of Polymer Science) will be happy with this news.....

This is wonderful news. The faculty senate may one day return to heated discussions regarding student parking and cell phones in classes, but for now the stakes are much larger and we benefit greatly by having such people in office! We admire you all!!!
I sat in on a conversation where people were trying to decide whether to vote for Myron or Mary Beth. I can report that conversants thought it was a win-win situation and had highest regard for both people.

Yes, Mary Beth has written some powerful Letters to the Editor recently. FS has continued good leadership and representation on the PUC.
