Charlotte,

The only significant difference between USM and other universities in MS and the rest of the nation is Shelby Thames. Transplant Shelby to any other campus in the country, let him do his thing, and I guarantee you that results would be the same everywhere.

Unfortunately, we will never have the opportunity to test my hypothesis because Shelby could now NEVER be hired ANYWHERE as a college president. To succeed as a college president anywhere he would have to have a personality transplant -- which, so far as I know, is presently impossible.

If Shelby had been in the Garden of Eden, he would have pushed that "little lady" Eve out of the way and eaten the forbidden fruit first.

Let's not talk about what Shelby might have done with Eve. I don't want to even think about the possibility of being descended from Shelby.
