"Hmmm. Mississippi in the mainstream? Up there with Silicon Valley and the Research Triangle in the Carolinas?
Sure, Barbour says. At the Stennis Space Center on the Coast, at the Army's Engineering Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, at the acoustics center at Ole Miss, the polymer lab at USM and in the growing supercomputing facilities at Mississippi State, world-class minds are already at work."

Don't forget the world class minds who worked in Mississippi but who left the state. Texas A&M now has one of them.
Speaking of pork, the Trent Lott Center stands to score a big donation from the Viking Corporation, the Greenwood, MS-based manufacturer of kitchen appliances. Viking has already donated a full kitchen to the President's Home on Jamestown Road.
Why does the TLC need kitchen appliances, you ask? For the banquet room on the first floor. Also, look for the powers that be to find a legal way to serve alcohol in the TLC.
word is that some in the ED dept have been spending $ like drunken sailors. not surprised to here that there is a party room in the ED building. after all, getting pork requires social gatherings with the rich and famous. you can bet alcohol will be on the premises and sft will be right in the thick of it.

Just as private property can be transformed into public property, public property can be transformed into pivate property. Schools that maintain "university clubs" usually have a spot of private property dedicated for that use in order that they can serve alcohol legally. If you see a move toward making the TCL private or semi-private . . . probe deeper.
