Have you heard anything about undue pressure coming from the legislature? I heard that the legislator who delivered the pro-Thames resolution at the last board meeting also delivered a message of support about full funding for education. Some suspect that there was a little not so subtle blackmail going on and that is yet another reason that things have slowed down and quieted down. It's a waiting game and will be a long 60 days, best case.
Given the condition of state revenues in Mississippi, and the state legislators' established spending priorities, how can anyone believe a legislator (even a committee chair) who promises "full formula funding"?
"Full formula funding" is what the Clemson trustees longed for, from around 1985 to 1999. They finally realized there never was going to be be full formula funding again.

Word has just come down the line that the President has resigned as of May 2007. Official announcements coming -- but this is from a good source.

I heard that the legislator's pro-Thames appearance actually backfired on him and alienated a couple of board members who were sitting on the fence.

I think we are gong to lose more faculty -- two years is a long time. AND while Ol Miss and State and continuing to progress, we are going to be dealing with a lame duck Presdient for two years and then a new President for a year after that. THREEE years before we can really start to climb out of the mess we are in.
