Marcus Raines - Do felons get financial aid?

Seems like I remember having to check mark a box on my FAFSA stating that I'm not a felon.

Will Marcus Raines get financial aid at USM?  Are athletic scholarship recipients held to the same standards as others who receive financial aid?

No a felon can not recieve federal financial aid.

But, is Raines a felon. He was conviceted of a felony at age 17. Under California State law, when an individual turns 18, any criminal activity is esponged from their record. So if you were to get a copy of Raines official police record, it is very possible that there is no felony conviction listed.

Didn't Raines serve time after he turned 18?

Son, I know you have acknowledged your spelling weaknesses in the past and they have been much discussed.  However, you have now admitted that you were a marketing major.  I was willing to ignore your mistakes when I thought you were a "numbers guy".  As a marketing major, surely you know the importance of image.  9 spelling/grammar mistakes in your short post above does not enhance your image or the reflection you make on the marketing department.  This comes from someone who welcomes your involvement on this board!

No,

cannot

receive

felon?

convicted

expunged

his record

So,

Raines'

Arguably "there would be" should replace "is" in the last sentence but that is probably nitpicking.

Robert, Harvard Eagle (who used to post on Eagle Talk) was able to dig up Raines' legal proceedings using his legal password.  Apparently, as he described it, nothing looked to be expunged.  He found everything in the California database.

All Havard Eagle pulled up was the Westlaw Database, which is a database of court cases. All that is in Westlaw is the Civil Case. There was no court case on the criminal case.

Raines didn't appear at the Civil case because he was being tried for an action he committed as a minor. Since he was a minor when the incident happend under California State Law he is lot liable for the judgement handed down.

Do you have a ghostwriter? This type of writing seems so out of character for you.
