Coach of the Year: Corky Palmer, Baseball; Randy Rowley, Women's Tennis (honorable mention).  Palmer building up nice postseason runs.  Rowley successfully rebuilding a once near-dead women's tennis program.

Athlete of the Year: Michael Boley, Football; Brad Willcut, Baseball (honorable mention).  Boley won major award and was drafted into the NFL this April.  Willcut is dropping records left and right on the diamond.

Best PostSeason Performance of the Year: New Orleans Bowl victory.  Win over UNT broke bowl losing streak and preserved Bower's streak of winning seasons.

Bonehead Move of the Year: Eustachy calling Jasper Johnson in and saying goodbye after JJ put up 27 points and 15 boards against the big men of LSU.  USM was 9-2 at that point.  Went about 4-17 over the next 21 or so without Jasper (who graduated last Friday night and is headed to Delta State to finish his career).

Biggest "Almost..." of the Year: Close call against highly ranked Cal on national t.v. to end regular season in football.

Biggest Win of the Year:  Wins over Ole Miss/Alabama (baseball).  Both schools ranked highly most of the season.

Quote of the Year: "She'll rip your head off and shove it up your nose,"  Joye Lee-McNelis about one of her younger players.  "There's a cloud over this program....." Larry Eustachy, in one of his stream of consciousness moments (honorable mention).

His is supposed to play out his final season of eligibility.  I suppose he will begin a graduate program there in some area, or pursue a second ug degree.
