USM prepares for budget cuts


Deans from the University of Southern Mississippi's five colleges are submitting $2 million budget cut proposals to the provost, the first step in the possible elimination of staff, instructors and even tenured faculty....

Several vacated faculty positions, not to mention staff positions, have been denied permission to fill.

Most departments and colleges are operating on bare bones faculty and staff.  How much more can they truly afford to give up??
