Jo Dee Messina's song "My Give a Damn's Busted" hit me this morning - it echo's my feelings about Shelbo....
You can say you've got issues You can say you're a victim It's all the faculty's fault, I mean after all you didn't pick em Maybe somebody else has got time to listen My give a damn's busted
Love it. Love that song. Helped me through a personal situation. Sometimes you gotta back up and decide what you have the time and energy to give a damn about. Thanks for the revision.
All of Jo Dee Mesina's songs contain a message. But then all C&W songs reflect the hopes, fears, disappointments, and successes of real people. Snapshots of America. And you can actually hear the words!
Here is one for the faculty to relate to: Twisted Sister and WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT anymore. "We'll fight, you'll see, we're not gonna take it anymore"
Deafened, you can hear and understand those words in We aren't gonna take it, loud and clear. Somebody really oughta put that on and play it through a PA system in the dome. He might get the message. Then again.................
Oh We're Not Gonna Take It no, We Ain't Gonna Take It oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
we've Got The Right To Choose And there Ain't No Way We'll Lose It this Is Our Life, This Is Our Song we'll Fight The Powers That Be Just don't Pick Our Destiny 'cause you Don't Know Us, You Don't Belong
oh We're Not Gonna Take It no, We Ain't Gonna Take It oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
oh You're So Condescending your Gall Is Never Ending we Don't Want Nothin', Not A Thing From You your Life Is Trite And Jaded boring And Confiscated if That's Your Best, Your Best Won't Do
we're Not Gonna Take It no, We Ain't Gonna Take It we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
we're Not Gonna Take It, No! no, We Ain't Gonna Take It we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
just You Try And Make Us we're Not Gonna Take It come On no, We Ain't Gonna Take It you're All Worthless And Weak we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore now Drop And Give Me Twenty we're Not Gonna Take It oh Crinch Pin no, We Ain't Gonna Take It oh You And Your Uniform we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

Didn't the military once blast such music into enemy territory in order to demoralize and weaken them? If they didn't, they should have. Your idea of using it here is an excellent one. The content of the music, or the quality of the musicianship, would be irrelevant, as long as it was very LOUD

But not loud enough to disturb the peace or violate any noise ordinances. A volume lower than the students use on those boom boxes they carry around with them on campus would be more than sufficient. Just enough to get their attention without creating a nuisance.
