Hey you management defenders out there, what about the 2 management faculty that got "4th year reviews" of late? Don't we have to give 4th year reviews to all now?
slight clarification here - I meant amen to Krishna. Hummm beat me to the reply. Hum (shortened it in anticipation of the name change), it must be nice to be so certain about this. Yn addition to stressed, you sound a bit defensive.

as already referenced by another poster, it is uncommon for a full professor to be hired at usm, much less from a place like nicholls state. didn't mean to leave you out, bbb.

I'm going to have my dept. representative on the Handbook Committee propose that we do just that. It was not pleasing to hear that this happened this year. What's good for management is good for the gander.

is that long enough? lol. not stressed at all. laughing while watching you flackers chase your party line.
Doty really opened the floodgates on the 4th Year Review thing. I don't see how anyone can get denied in the CoB anymore without having a legal case. This is the kind of stuff that has Lee Gore getting creamed in court every day.

Shelby’s minions or seriously inflated petty egos seem to drive this thread. There is a larger battle going on so that the college and the university stay accredited and see the dome change. Maybe these people should go start a new message board of their own. Maybe titled “I am great and everyone else shall bow to me,” especially those with more committee assignments or whatever your infantile beef is.
STOP!! Don't go there!! You're teetering on the brink of quicksand. Do not get embroiled in COB threads. Leave them alone and they'll beat each other senseless (for a while) -- if you try to challenge or question, you will be macerated, lacerated and just plain pounded into the dirt. Quit while you're ahead.

Don't underestimate the possibility that some of these posters are not actually in the COB. Arrows are flying all over campus, and in all directions from all corners.
Someone mentioned that the COB people should go start their own board. Actually, about 10 percent of the COB plus or minus a few "adminstrators" should go start their own board. Assuming that cyberspace lasts forever then they could fight one another for eternity like the two aliens in an old episode of Star Trek. Thankfully, the characters in these cat fights are well-known in the college and the rest of us have the luxury of avoiding them (usually).

.....and do not forget that arrows are flying onto campus from other parts of town and the state.
The scenario runs like this. An assistant professor comes up for 3rd year review with no publications but maybe a couple of weak things in the pipeline. The dept. and dean don't want to deal with the problem of a negative 3rd year review. At that point, the review is just sort of "forgotten". The assistant professor effectively gets another year. A couple of things get accepted and the 3rd year review gets done in the 4th year. There is one of these going on this year and it is not the first time this has happened. Most of us just shrug and go back to work.
Is there a written document describing the 4th year review? I assume there is (T & P Policy?) for the 3rd year review. If the 4th year review is just informally done with a wink and a nod, doesn't that open the door to faculty arguing that since policies are not consistently enforced, that other policies be "modified" also?

There are not written policies for 4th year reviews. On paper, there is no such thing as a 4th year review. OO, you are exactly right. I guess that's why one poster brought Lee Gore's name into this discussion (an in an unflattering way).

Take a lesson from the folks across campus. If your colleagues are interviewing, let them do so in peace and privacy for goodness sake.

There are 4 professors in pure finance. All four have been absent on a Thursday/Friday combination (out of town) at least once in the last month.

Cub - are you suggesting that they are out on job interviews, or neglecting their USM duties, or consulting, or sick, or vacationing, or something else?

Not suggesting anything except that they've all been absent on a Thursday/Friday combination in the last month. I report. You decide.
Hear that the CoB's long-standing funding of summer research out of summer school teaching funds is the real issue and CoB continues to doctor summer pay forms to try and slip it by Grimes and Thames.
