He got his a$$ kicked by the results I saw. I guess he won't be in a position to make sure Gulfport is a "straight town" anymore since he gave up his City Council seat to get trounced in a mayoral primary.

Hewes has many more flaws than simply supporting SFT. I think this is the start of something big for the forces of good. The Hattiesburg Mayor's race is next. Solidify that and then start on others.

"Hattiesburg City Council member Betsy Rowell continues to lead in the Republican mayoral race with 12 of 14 precincts reporting.

Rowell leads the field with 1,191 votes followed by Lee Jarrell Davis with 738, David Senne 570 and Walt Coker 42. In the Democratic race, incumbent Mayor Johnny Dupree leads Catherine Starr with 1,133 votes to 30."
