Amy was a one-year appointment only and not tenure-track in psych. She is in a tenure line position at SD now. Both Will and Amy were great people and talented psychologists, and a loss for USM.

Corrections for memorial wall:
Linda Mae is spelled Lynda Mae
Greg Eells was not in Psychology. He was in Student Services (Headed the Counseling Center). From our discussions, the present administration's approach played a role in his decision to look elsewhere. He should be listed under Student Services.
Jim H was not involved with psychology in any meaningful way for many, many years, and was more closely allied with history and admin (until the Thames debacle). To say he departed from psych (his last, brief, forced affiliation), although technically accurate, is somewhat misleading.

When Gary left, we also lost his spouse, Dee Jones, who was a Librarian and DeGrummond Archive director.
Ross Santell's departure also caused his spouse, Candy Santell, to leave her employment at OTR, where she was part of the staff imported by John McGowan.

Thanks for these. I added Rouse, Hobson and Pearson to the current year's list. Branch and Janes are both on the August 2003 thru July 2004 list stickyed at the top. I didn't find out about Branch till Aug 03, so she's probably only the wrong list according to the date you provide (she should be on the first year one we are all building now), but it's all the same since both fall in the May 02 to the present time period.

Nursing, Psychology, and English have all left the starting gate. Nursing is rouding the corner. Psychology is in front of English by a nose. Nursing is now closing the lead. The spectators are standing with astonishment on their faces. Three key departments running neck to neck. Oh my, when will it be over. When will the bailing out ever stop. Oh no. Here comes another department galloping up from the rear.
After Dana Thames, Carolyn RK, and Renee F. returned from a univeristy trip in the summer of 2002 from Great Britain, Dana walked into a good riddance note from Margaret Mary Sulentic who had not received a contract for the next year. Dana demanded that the locks be changed instantly and walked into Sulentic's office to find it empty. Empty is what empty does.

This is a sad time for Jennifer because her father, Jim Caveny , passed away last week.

This is sad news for this former prof, as well. Jim was one of the first people I met when I came to Hattiesburg, and a genuinely good person. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Yes, this is very sad. Jim was still young. He must have been in his sixties. It seems like he only retired a short time ago.
Please correct the spelling for Kathryn Melton and she was the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the School of Family and Consumer Sciences (and spouse to Dr. Michael Melton).

Was it Larry Laflore (Spelling?)?

Jim Caveny was in his 60s. Jennifer is also faced with her mother in declining health. Regina was a valued member of the faculty in Economics and MIS for her tenure at USM. All 3 were respected and liked at USM. Two generations that have given to USM and that remind us all what a university community is all about even when times are bad.
When Jess McKee retired also Janet McKee left the CBA. She was one of the mainstays on the staff there for many years.
