I didn't notice until just now that what we actually have above is a film of Pat Buchanan being attacked. That's just lovely. Take a look at the film and tell me if this is the kind of thing you want to joke about -- or be associated with.
It's actually Bill Kristol (a pretty thoughtful conservative) getting smashed in the face in the film. I urge everyone to take a look at this film, although I hope the folks on ET don't find out that it's on this board. The film is really repulsive, the assault even more so.
I have followed this thread for some time. You have made a valiant effort to convey a few simple truths. As an old well-worn conservative, I learned years ago the folly of arguing with liberals who cannot debate the issues, but are skillful in changing the ground rules of the debate. It is almost identical to arguing with very fundamental religious people, their view of the world is shaped and supported by beliefs of how things should be, not how things are. They are normative in their mental modeling as opposed to positive. It is an easy framework mentally in which to frame the world, albeit a lazy approach because one does not have to include doubt in the equation. I never argue with a religious zealot or a liberal zealot. It too closely resembles the old adage, "never mud wrestle with a pig, you get dirty and the pig enjoys it." Moreover, if you are successful in pounding their arguments to a pulp with logic, you then become a "puppy kicker" who has hurt their feelings. Retire gracefully from the field of battle and take a shower to wash off the mud.
I too think that the use of anything other that words does not help a cause. I wish this whole thread was deleted. All it does is divides us on issues unimportant to the major concerns of the readers.

Well, I was actually aiming (metaphor alert) at Toy and Shelby but if you truly want to word rumble, I am game...

I have never found one zealot to be any more or less rational than any other zealot, irrespective of the source or object of the zeal. I kinda figured that was what being a zealot was all about.

WARNING: COMPLETELY OFF-TOPIC and also RELIGIOUS/POLITICAL to boot:
This is one of the funniest send-ups I have read about zealotry or lack thereof: Unitarian Jihad
Disclaimer: I am a Unitarian-Universalist, but in no way advocate any sort of "holy war" (or "unholy war," for that matter).

Since I am not equipped to word rumble, I will crown you the winner. In reality, I am not very well versed in literature and would not fare well. However, I felt the need to respond to a rhyme with a rhyme and that was my best shot.

It works on many levels. Would you like to join the Nd'A Committee? You seem to have the onion-peeling knack that I am looking for, a shared sense of history and humor with Invictus, and the correct religious affiliation to stand against those trash talk posters, which will ingratiate you to Miss I. Of course I would have to raise the idea with the other members of the committee on sobriquet sobriety but you have my vote.

Of course I meant "sobriquet superiority" but we're out of dewberry brandy again and I'm afraid it was a Freudian slip.
