In all of the talk about various constituencies for the IHL Board to use to evaluate presidents, one that certain members of the IHL wants to put a lot of stock in is a category they refer to as non-career faculty --- "faculty" in non tenure track/adjunct/visiting teaching positions at various universities. The one at USM they are eyeballing, and would serve as an example for who to look for at others system univs, is Blount from the COAL. In fact, Klumb has asked that Crofts sit down for an exhaustive meeting on Blount's view of what's going on at USM.
Has the General been here long enough to form an opinion? He has only had time for the "snow job." It takes longer to get past the compulsive lies because normal people simply don't expect that kind of behavior from executives of a university. It would take even longer than that for the shock of this kind of outrageous behavior to sink in. It sounds like more letters are in order from the people who have been here awhile.
Hey, this is getting easy. All I have to do is cut and paste.
"Here we go again. A new poster relates a rumor with no sources that can be checked. Others posters, with names never before seen on this board, then begin discussing the rumor as if it were fact. A thread is born for those that are bored that distract those in the trenches with messages that there is no hope.
As usual, I only comment on this type of thread to point out the deception."

No, just ignorant of the situation at USM. Also he isn't an academic and I wouldn't ask his opinion on performing brain surgery or auto mechanics either.
The question is not whether General Blount is a truthful individual.
The question is whether he knows a single thing about USM, except what he's been told by Shelby Thames and assorted members of the Thamesian entourage.
Crofts has been a faculty member as well as a university administrator and a system administrator, and he has already signaled that he doesn't trust Shelby Thames. To accept the FUD that's getting purveyed, we'd have to believe that Crofts just fell off the turnip truck.

Hold on a minute--don't jump on this person--what he/she says may very well be true. "Certain members" of the IHL want Crofts to interview General Blount. This is probably true, but does it mean anything? Only an idot would think that General Blount (undoubtedly a fine, upstanding person, but nevertheless a non-academic, Thames appointee, who hasn't been here very long) would have very much useful to say about the situation here. And I can asure you, Dr. Crofts is no idot.

That was probably my 2nd all-time favorite Gary Larsen cartoon. My favorite was the one where a cow is looking in the freezer with a look of horror on her face and the caption is something like, "While the Browns were on vacation, the cows were having the time of their lives until Bessie's unwitting discovery." I might not have it exactly right, but you get the idea. I do miss my daily dose of Gary Larsen.

Not far from where I live there is a restaurant named "Fudruckers." Is there any connection between the meaning of the term FUD and the name of the restaurant?
