Doty's visit started off well today, but took a turn for the worse this evening at dinner, where he was rumored to make an off-color remark about a UNF fundraiser's wife in front of a UNF Business Advisory Committee member.
I try to stay away from the Doty rumor mill, but in this case I must speak. I attended a function Thursday night with a person (another board poster btw) who is a friend of Mrs. Doty and she tells me that they have not left town, so this whole thing is questionable.
I say this as a person who has no opinions one way or another about Mr. Doty.

LVN, what do you mean "they have not left town"? Harold Doty is one of 2 finalists for the Dean's job at UNF and he is over in Jacksonville right now interviewing for the position. Do you not believe that? It is on their website and Doty admitted to several CoB faculty that he was headed there at the end of this week (right now). This is no joke.

I should clarify -- my source was discussing the "beach" post. Nothing was said about what the Dotys might be doing at the end of this week.
LVN, go to the thread titled something like "Doty one of 2 finalists". In it there is a link to the UNF website naming him one of 2 finalists, and his visit schedule is there. It says he arrived in Jacksonville on Wednesday night (April 6) and departs Saturday morning (April 9). Jacksonville has a beach, so I suppose it's possible he visited it. No one ever said "the Doty family" was going to Jacksonville (or the beach) this week. Mrs. Doty and the kids are very likely to be behind in Hattiesburg (school, etc.). Board posters are speaking about a job interview. Sounds like your contact was confirming the family wasn't all on vacation or something, but still in Hattiesburg.
Doty is in Jacksonville right now trying to win a way out of USM!

What? This is part of a lawsuit from a former USM employee (of the CBED) here in Hattiesburg. What's going on?

I have never posted on one of these business threads before and my only experience with Doty is his public confrontation with the Administration which, as someone who hopes to see USM rise to the level of SACS accreditation, I appreciated. However, this rumor-mongering about events which the original poster could not possibly know about is absurd. Leave the man alone until we know something real. If he leaves, he leaves. If he stays, he stays. All this character assassination through false rumors makes the business college look very petty and increasingly irrelevant to the discussion of what is best for this university. I urge you all to rein your fantasies and stick to known facts.

I don't have an outstanding journalism award named after me for nothing.
