USM's Center for Writers in the English Department continues to produce good writers despite losing almost half of its faculty over the last year (Mary Robison, DC Berry, and Kim Herzinger). I've only seen one of these jobs posted on the USM website...it's an absolute shame what SFT has done to the English Department.

Truth"
I guess that means the faculty members who left were expendable.

I guess that means you are an idiot. A good program attracts good students and then nurtures them. Those award winners are unlikely to be freshmen. The recent departure of top writers and scholars from the USM English department means that fewer good students will enroll in the future and they will get less exposure to a faculty stretched thin.

Yah. Dat's vat ve usted say in der old country.
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Yes, I too am tired of hearing of so much unpleasantry. Let's just talk about the good things at Southern Miss. No more of this SACS probation, 4th tier, shared governance. And while we're at it, please don't remind me of Iraq, Afganistan, the Sudan, 9/11, Vietnam, either of the WW's, that unpleasantness in the 1860s. And why do these people keep telling me about that Jesus fellow? For crying out loud, that was 2000 years ago. Get over it.

We've had our fair share of trolls on this board, but they usually seemed to post with their head held high. This one's head seems to be firmly planted elsewhere.
