I wasn't aware that tomorrow had been officially declared National SFT day. Does this stem from a proclamation passed by Congress? Was there a Mader press release? A piece in the HA? I thought the recent USM Aramark-Golden Revelry Extravaganza at The Rock was Shelby Thames Adulation Day. Will there be Mardi Gras style parades, floats and beads, hurricanes flowing from the fountain in front of the dome, Lisa and Angie showing us their...uhhh....never mind. I think I'll just head over to 206 Front and have a quiet beer with some lesser figures. You know who I mean, the folks who keep the university alive.

Banks and government offices are closed, no mail delivery, but Shelboo's paint store will be open for business as usual, and you get a 10% discount upon presentation of a valid USM Faculty ID.

Don't you mean a 10% surcharge with a USM faculty ID?

Remember tomorrow's calendar date and all will be clear.

This really isn't an official function, but there's a covered dish supper for USM faculty and staffers at the Thames house tomorrow evening. They still need a couple of people to bring meats and salads, and of course all vegetables and desserts will be welcomed. Coffee and tea will be provided by the Thames family. I hope you all can make it. Dress is casual.

Oh, this is so exciting. I've never been invited up to the big house before. I'm not sure what dish to sign up for, but I'm seriously considering bringing my popular boiled crawfish salad. Does anyone know if Dr. Thames has a favorite dish? Crawfish salad would be very expensive to assemble, but I really want to make a good impression. I've been told that participation in networking events like this are the way to get ahead at USM, and I sure don't want to blow this opportunity. And what does Lisa mean by casual dress? Would cut-off jean shorts and a halter top be considered casual? This affair really has me in a dither. I don't know if I'll be able to keep my mind on teaching today. Maybe I'll just give my classes a walk.
