Are you saying that the Georgia Bulldogs won't hire a USM faculty member?
Get ya back down, bully dawg. No, I'm not saying they wouldn't hire a USM prof (although I would say it would be a remote possibility given the perceived pecking order of academics), but I am saying that based upon my insider knowledge, there is no USM prof under consideration at UGA.
Also, I believe that there is a marketing chair search going on at Georgia State and that it is a more probable lateral home for a USM person. (Or, perhaps Kennesaw State in suburban Atlanta).
Why is it that when our colleagues from CoAL move on, we wish them well, mourn their loss and blame it on the dome's demolition ball but when business profs leave, it's always full of nasty innuendo and intrigue? Someone with an absolutely relentless agenda must abide over there.

Yes! The fourth tier of the third world are unworthy.

I respectfully disagree with the idea that a USM person must move laterally. Many USM faculty members have moved to schools far higher on the academic pecking order than Georgia.

Yes, I agree with you completely. But, these folks had strong, national reputations. Although the CoB is full of some great people (and I mean this sincerely), I don't think any of them (beyond maybe a B. Babin) could be a real contender at a tier 1 or 2 school (although I have no idea what tier Georgia claims home).
UGA has one of the top three public b-schools in the South (Florida is ahead of UGA for sure). A move to the Terry College of Business is equivalent to Stringer's move to TAMU, if it doesn't surpass that. UGA may not be high in every discipline, but it's really good in business.

Is that better now that I have added a sense of humor in my post?" No...thankfully...not for many years. and it was full of roaches back then!
Amid all these reports of USM faculty moving, isn't it interesting that the one person at USM today who probably could NEVER move to a position similar to the one he now occupies is Shelby Thames. He would NEVER be considered for a president's position elsehwhere by anyone; THAT is how much of a mess he has made of things. It must really sting his inflated ego to realize this incontestable fact.
There are some COB posters (or else people who let us think they are COB) who dearly love being mysterious. It drives most of us crazy. If you have something to tell, then please tell. Otherwise, I think I hear your mother calling . . .

I would guess that Georgia is at the top of Tier II on the USNWR scale overall.
In the recent past USM biz profs have moved to Alabama, Wake Forest, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Rhode Island, Miami (FL), Washington State.....
