Shelby: The Movie

Just wanted to let you all know that I have begun screen-tests for my new film, "Shelby: The Movie."  Although I have had Mickey Rooney in mind for a long time for the title role, I am open to other suggestions for that role and for others.  Mickey, I am happy to report, has already tested for one of the scenes -- the one in which Shelby returns from his forthcoming IHL evaluation.  He's a shot from the test:

Any and all additional suggestions for actors, plot twists, locations, etc. will be appreciated.  As befits the epic scale of this project, this film is still very much "in process."

The "images" search function at www.google.com is a good place to find pictures of actors, locations, props, etc., as we begin thinking about the details of the film.

This man wearing lumberjack attire attached a photo to his application for a role in the movie. For which role could he be cast?

It looks like he is also angling for the role of Shelby, since he is wearing Shelby's initials on his shirt.  However, the costume would also make him a fitting (no pun intended) person to play Roy Klumb.  This is going to be a hard decision . . . .

I forgot to mention that the axe also makes him an appropriate person to play either Klumb or Shelby.

Now you wait just a darn minute here.  I'm thinkin' that my boy Jethro is the right person to play Mr. Klumb.  I'm thinkin' they even look a bit alike.  Here's the only picture I got handy of the boy; he's the one drivin' us in the auto-mobile:

PS from Jed here.  Now you look at this here picture of Mr. Klumb

and then you look again at that picture of Jethro, and you tell ME they don't look a lick a like.  Woooooooo-doggy, they's almost two peas in a pod!  Yep, I'm thinking Jethro deserves that part in this here picture you're makin.

Okay: now for the set, what you need is a ghost town to make people get the idea of what USM looks like after Shelby's through with it.  Got it?  Here's a sample:

Yeah, you're right, Cec -- and for the Virginia Newton role I'm thinkin' along the lines of Ingrid Bergman in one of my films; here's a poster we used:

Just wanted to let you know that I'm available for the role of Ken Malone; I've already successfully played the sidekick to a madman:

Okay, here's the set we use for the scene where Anne Wallace heads off the North Carolina:

Here's a good idea. Have Brother Dave Beckett rassle King Shelby at the halftime of a football game.If King Shelby wins all the profs have to increase their work week from 9 to 12 hours. Alot less time on the links. If Brother Dave wins,King Shelby has to refrain from saying,"World Class University" for a full year.

Angie, is that you?  You're hard to recognize with all that polymeric green paint on your face.

Here's a shot we can use in the scene where word spreads that Anne Wallace is leaving the university:

I've had pretty good luck using this guy in some of my films.  I see him playing the role of Doty's replacement, since Shelby will want somebody in that job without much of a brain and who doesn't speak much.

Foot Soldier, baby!  I can see your point, but for Amy Young I was thinkin' of sort of a Zena-Warrior-Princess angle:

Whatdya think?

Might I suggest Don Rickles for the part of Shelby. You hockey puck!

Thanks very much for this suggestion.  There definitely is a physical resemblance, especially in the photo(s) below.  And, of course, there are the similar temperaments: both men have profited by abusing others and showing others no respect, and neither man allows others to get a word in edge-wise.  We may very definitely have to consider Don for the part.

Shelby's pick for the title role was none other than Sorrell Booke (aka Boss Hogg). Unfortunately, The Boss passed away in 1994.
