Not only does Kevin write novels and short stories (and has had them published in places like McSweeney's and The Mississippi Review among others), he's also a USM grad from the English Dept. Kevin is an awesome writer...such a talent. Hattiesburg is losing a good'un.

Someone please post the text of the op-ed piece, so those from out of town can read it, please!

And let the record show that before Kevin graduated from the English Department (with a masters I believe), he earned a degree in film and was a filmmaker of exceptional talent.

I think I understand now.....

A few weeks back I was in a meeting when a high level USM adminstrator made a public comment "too much tequila last night"

Then two weeks ago supposedly this same high level USM adminstrator made a comment about seeing Kevin Walters "publicly -----ed"

The adminstrator was talking about the barkeep not the writer

Just sent this to Kevin Walters:

As a former USM faculty member who resigned my tenured position there last year, I want to thank you for your probing and courageous fact-finding and enlightening, informative writing on the ongoing crisis at USM.

Your voice will be sorely missed, not only in Hattiesburg, but wherever there are people concerned about the future of USM.
