Delete my posts & how 2 email me privately

If you want to, you have my permission to delete all the threads I started except this one.

Two of you have addressed me and my issues seriously. Most of you have not. There are also 3 or 4 people administrating this board who do not want you to talk privately with me. They lie about me and create an inaccurate fear about emailing me to deter you from talking to me off this board. Why do you think that is?

I assure you there are more faculty who feel as I do, especially the new tenure track professors and the new adjuncts who were not hired by the old chairs. They do not come here because of two reasons: 1) they are afraid to and 2) they know their opinions and views here will not be taken seriously. I agree completely and will not be discussing any more items here other than this.

There has been an environment of fear created on this board, and it is associated with the AAUP-USM. I posted two messages yesterday, a little out of frustration, but also to show you exactly what some faculty, students, and non-USM people think about you. Some of the long-term posters on this board have posted very similar messages about people with differing opinions. Yet, they were not treated the way I was.  They were even encouraged.  Why do think that is?

I assure you it is possible to email one another privately. There is a way to do it without showing your real email address and your IP. If you have a little time to devote to this, go to www.sneakemail.com and set up a free account. Read the instructions on how to use their free service. There is a learning curve, but it will be worth it in the long run because one day you might need to talk to some stranger privately off this board. There are other methods you can use in conjunction with SneakEmail that would keep even a lawyer with a subpoena from finding your real IP and you, but I will not share those with you at this time. You should not need those extra methods anyway, because the only people who are going to use lawyers for something like that are those in support of the AAUP-USM.

When you create an environment of fear, you are no better than Shelby Thames.

The IP I use for this board shields me from Thames. It is a shame I had to take other steps to shield me from 3 or 4 people on this board associated with the AAUP-USM. The lies about me, my IP, and my identity are all tactics to keep you from talking to me off this board. Think about it.

Once you create your fake email address at www.sneakemail.com use it to send me email at my fake address: uhsqrov02@sneakemail.com . I ask that you please be civil and responsible if you email me; I will return the favor.

Again, you can delete all my threads I started except this one. I really do not mind.

Thank you.

I've thought about it for several minutes...I can't for the life of me think of one reason why I'd want to email you privately...even if I didn't have to go to all the trouble of setting up a "secret email" account.

ssDude,

I have great difficulty following the logic of your posts.  First, you assert that this message board creates an atmosphere of fear.  This implies that this board and the posters have power to harm.  I fail to see this altogether.  I can tell you, as president of AAUP-USM, if we had that kind of power, things here at USM would be entirely different!  Obviously we have almost no power.

Who has created an atmosphere of fear which is entirely at odds with academic freedom and shared governance?  Shelby Thames and his administration has.

It may be that some faculty feel as you do (which I confess, I do not fully understand), and many have expressed a variety of opinions concerning this university to me.  I have tried, over the last several years, to talk to faculty, staff, and students across the university in many different programs and offices, and I have never heard anything that indicates they are afraid of AAUP.  They have expressed disappointment, regret, sorrow, and in a few instances, anger.  But never never never have they expressed fear.

Our recent survey was sent to about 600 faculty at USM was returned by 210 individuals who told me, in no uncertain terms, that they are afraid of reprisals from the Thames administration.  They told me in no uncertain terms that they are unsatisfied with shared governance.  It was completely anonymous and I believe the survey reflects the realities experienced by faculty here.

I have tried to address your concerns, but the more I read, the more convinced I am that you are NOT who you say you are.

It's just part of a campaign, as someone else pointed out, to create intrigue where there is none. I do not know of a single thing being done secretly among the board posters, or even among the faculty members I know. These people are incredibly busy and tired and have no time for third-grade games.
Why would the board administrator/s be out to get you?

What would they DO with you if they caught you?

Over the past year-plus there has been every variety of troll, troublemaker, genuinely misinformed, or genuinely insane poster you can imagine. If people on this board were really out to get anybody, don't you imagine it would already have happened?

I have a theory about ssDude: he is a student, based on his inability to use English and/or he genuinely has mental problems, based on his extreme and unfounded paranoia and/or he is a very sophisticated troll intent on stirring up trouble. I am wavering between the first and second options.

I am not going to respond to ANYTHING else he posts, and I encourage others to do likewise. Let's free the power of this individual to go his own way!
