Since it seems obvious that SFT could never be president of any other university, is there any position at USM that would be acceptable both to SFT and his backers and to the rest of the university community? In other words, is there any office he could hold at USM that would give him a sufficient sense of fulfillment (and a large enough fig-leaf covering) in which he would not interfere with the new president? What about President of the USM Foundation? What about Special Legislative Liason for USM? Or would he, like Napoleon (whom he somewhat resembles) always be plotting a return to power?
What about retirement? I think that would be best for everyone. He could even make it look like he intended to do so all along...to save face, you know
