A note to the AAUP-USM List Moderator

I beg to differ, OldTimer. This week's meeting of community members is being organized by a group of 10, one of whom is Carl Nicholson. The reported purpose of the meeting is to discuss positive accomplishments at USM under Shelby Thames' administration. I think it is extremely relevant to post what Mr. Nicholson felt were the university's accomplishments the last time that he had an opportunity to do so. It is also helpful to see how he was responded to the last time, especially because one of the responders is the author of a current letter to the editor. Additionally, people come to this website looking for answers to questions that have been posed and addressed eloquently in the past. It is ludicrous to waste the time and energy re-responding when the old threads can be bumped.

Duly noted, but not much I can do. As long as free speech prevails on this board, the best thing to do is ignore the trolls.

Ah, now we know when we are winning. You fear the message. It shows your weakness. You want to hide the other opinions because your own message, mission, and agenda is losing the battle. As more new faculty are hired and as more of you entice outsiders to push your agenda to embarrass USM, you will find that retaliation against you will increase.

For anyone new to the board I think I should explain that Albert is a Shelby supporter who has been challenged again and again and again to defend Shelby in coherent, well-developed, well-supported terms, yet has REPEATEDLY refused to do so. Now that Shelby has given you your talking points, Albert, this should not be too difficult. However, most of us on the board have long since lost respect for you, NOT because you support Shelby but because you have refused to explain why. Even ol' W.J. Johnson has stepped up to the plate and made that attempt, yet you have chosen to remain a mere snipe(r). No one takes you seriously.
