For those of you wanting more information about Dr. Thames, I suggest you take a look at his bio on Southern's website. I believe you'll find it in the "Administration" section. It lists several accomplishments I overlooked last night. Next to his bio is a link to communicate with him through e-mail. I have done so on several occasions, and he has always replied promptly and with a thoughtful response. He will do the same for anyone else.
Some of you continue to harp on about the Carnegie rankings. I would remind you all that the Carnegie organization placed a badge on the front page of Southern's website some time ago as a banner for such a lofty ranking. Many of you remember this. It has been removed now to make way for other pertinent information about the university, but mention of Southern's high standing in the Carnegie rankings is made in other places on the website.

Haven't you figured out that we don't give a rat's a$$ about Thames or his padded bio? It wouldn't matter if he'd won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and then single-handedly captured Osama Bin Laden. The guy is personally and professionally unfit to lead a university, any university.

Listen: Carnegie doesn't rank. It classifies institutions as particular kinds of schools, not by how good they are. That judgment is up to places like SACS and U S News and World Report, and we're not doing so well at either place.
Listen--again: On it's own website the Carnegie Foundation says, "The Carnegie Classification is a taxonomy of colleges and universities. It is not a ranking of institutions, nor do its categories imply quality differences." Go read it yourself at http://www.carnegiefoundation.org/Classification/faq.htm#_Section2.1.
That kind of language will get you nowhere in a hurry with Professor Johnson. He is a fine Christian gentleman, just like Dr. Thames, and I assure you that he will not tolerate vulgar language from his employees in the Mississippi Southern College of Business. I suggest that you wash your mouth out with soap, and hope that Professor Johnson doesn't find out your name. People like you are exactly what's wrong with colleges today, but mark my words, that's about to change here at Southern.

Ask and ye shall have...words of wisdom from the inimitable W.J. Johnson.
