Got a camera? Know your way to the Coca-Cola plant? (See directions below.)
Why not spend a few minutes taking pictures of the good folks who "support USM" as they get out of their limousines to attend the meeting Thursday evening at 6 p.m.?
Might make 'em feel kinda special, dontcha think?
The "meeting to discuss the future of the University of Southern Mississippi is being held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hattiesburg Coca Cola Bottling Company's upstairs meeting room."
The Coca-Cola Bottling Company is located at 201 Coca Cola Avenue in Hattiesburg. To get there from campus, head out Hardy Street westward towards Columbia. Pass the light at I-59. Pass the light at Westover Drive. Turn right at the next light, between the Kangaroo Gas Station and Citizen's Bank. The street is unmarked (wouldn't you know it!), but it's Coca Cola Avenue.
Have a great time! Be careful not to photograph each other. And be sure to share all your best shots!
I do not think this is a good idea. How will harassing local business people help us? Not everyone who may attend this meeting is necessarily an "enemy" --
I think the better thing to do is to encourage professional and business people who have genuine concerns about the Thames administration to attend the meeting and to voice those concerns clearly and cogently. In particular, doctors and health professionals should be ready to speak up about the crisis in our School of Nursing. Local educators should ask who is going to train our high school English, math, history, and physics teachers when those departments are beaten into the ground. Let's not forget that most "teacher education" is actually taking place in the liberal arts. Let's encourage good people to attend, arm them with the facts, and not try to intimidate them from going.
I'm with you on this one LVN. There are many people in the community who do not understand what is goin on, but they have friends on the faculty and they see that SFT is destroying the university. Physical harrassment is not in the faculty's best interest.
By the way, if ever the time were right for AKL to step up, Thursday is it.
