Carl Nicholson Nicholson & Company, Accountants

Gwen James Coldwell Banker Don Nace Realty

Gwen's son (David Fortenberry(?)) was employed by Nicholson & Co

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This discussion concerns USM, but an interesting note.  David was implicated in NCAA investigation concernig Miss State football recruits in H'burg area.  When the investigation was made public, David resigned from the Nicholson firm.  At the time Carl was a member of the IHL.

Joanne, thank you for your posts. I admire you, and, I am a former colleague of yours. No hard feelings at all.

Just got back from Wal-Mart with my Pepsi and Diet Pepsi for the upcoming week.  I plan on bringing some to work for my colleagues.  That way we won't have to use the machines.

You know, for some reason, my Coke just lost its flavor this week.

I would hope that some business leaders would keep that in mind.  The potential retirement population with its spending dollars is only going to grow in the next two to three decades. They'll retire where there is good health care and community arts events sponsored by universities like USM.  "

Sounds like the Arts contribute to the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT success of this community.

Suzanne Hirsch, development officer of the late College of the Arts, together with someone from business, put together a strong statement of the ecomonic impact of the arts on the Hattiesburg area.  It is worth looking at again--especially before this upcoming meeting.

Most of those with the big bucks to spend in the Hattiesburg area wouldn't even dream of being here if it weren't for the arts. Theatre and music are essential to attracting professionals and others. I've never heard a recruit in any area of endeavor say, "Let me see your local chicken processing plant. I'm thinking about moving my family here."
