Please list any serious, substantive reasons you can think of that would explain why any talented student would now want to come to USM and why any really outstanding faculty member would want to accept (or retain, if it were possible to move) a job there.

I'm not a Shelby Fan, but the English Department has the DeGrummond, and I think are trying to recruit a children's lit person. Don't know how successfully. Also, what's the status of Marine Science? Anyone who does come should be forewarned.
