Now that sounds like the sort of program that could attract many good students - particulary if business teamed up with chemistry or biology in some way. Kudos to business and and to the marketing department; and congratulations to Dean Doty and to whomever else helped in this endeavor.

It'll be teamed up with Polymer Science...they already have a program that encourages graduate students to market their polymeric "discoveries." Future millionaires!

That is shameful. 1 million dollars and the Pres and the chief financial officer don't even show up.

What's shameful is that this is a huge gift and not one ACADEMIC administrator above the dean's level was there. Word was that Thames was "sick." The top academic officer (GRIMES) couldn't make it to the announcement of an endowed position that will lead to a new, viable program that will serve the Pharm. community (Malone, are you there?).

A faculty member in one of the Colleges is about to unleash a new form of hell against the cronies. Maybe Grimes was in Hburg trying to put out a fire he should never have aided with helping to build.

Do you suppose this was the reason that the Dean Doty was reported to get to the office late (7:30 AM) and left early (5:20 PM)? Could it be that it was because he was off-campus negotiating that Million Dollar donation?

I doubt it, as the CoB has a full-time fundraiser assigned to it.

At the College of Business dinner to recognize Mr. Draughan, Shelby spoke and talked about "economic development" but never acknowledged the business school or its faculty.

Not only that, the WDAM news anchor refered to CoB as the "College of Business and Economic Development" during last night's reporting. I bet SFT really loved that one. I also heard that the development officer in the CoB is going to be reassigned w/in the university shortly.

Kim Chaze ought to love this place - it continues to make him a wealthy man. I think he has a couple of new clients from a couple of the USM colleges - he's spending more time in Hattiesburg than he had intended (he resides in Portsmouth NH). At least he gets to spend some more time with his mother-in-law in Petal.

SFT and company just don't get it. Someday the taxpayers will pay to get these suits settled, and SFT and company still won't get it.
