Today I was walking to class with a friend at Gulf Park. We noticed on the walls of one of the buildings there was what appeared to be paint streaks. However, upon closer inspection, we found they were patches for cracks. My friend said, "That isn't going to do any good...the cracks are in the foundations." I said, "NO KIDDING!!" What I didn't realize was she was talking about the actual physical structure....I thought she meant the department.
This is similar that what I heard about GP as well. I also heard that one or more of the older houses that have been purchased by USM around the main campus had new roofs put on them only to be demolished within a few months. This was within this academic year. I guess USM does not need my donations if they can re-roof a building only to tear in down in a few months. Ken Malone is hard at work spending tax dollars.
As the old saying goes: The only thing certain is "change." I'm beginning to suspect that at USM the word "change" has two meanings: the traditional meaning + "change" referring to $$$
