If Mr. Johnson did in fact have this conversation with Mr. Klumb, that is a far more serious offense than anything G & S were accused of. Very, very serious. How could it be brought to the attention of the press, and how could it be proved?? (Not that the question of proof was ever considered important by Thames, Klumb, et. al. last year.)

There would be no easy way to prove that the conversation took place, but, if Mr. Johnson is a real person, and if his reality can be proven, then he would first need to be asked by a reporter to verify the claim that has been made in his name on this board. If he is an honest man, he will verify the claim. Then a reporter would have to ask Klumb whether the account is correct. I suspect Klumb would deny it, thereby publicly implying that Mr. Johnson is a liar. However, Klumb's reaction would be less important (since no one takes him seriously anyway) than Mr. Johnson's account, if Mr. Johnson is indeed a real and honest person.

Mr. Johnson,
Now that you are back from the big party and have had a chance to drink some coffee to clear your mind, aren't you going to defend your honor against charges such as this by proving that you really do exist?
