"The official groundbreaking for the Trent Lott Center for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship facility is scheduled for Thursday, February 24, at 2 p.m. I hope you will join Sen. Lott, a host of other dignitaries, and me for this celebration."
Don't forget to attend and cheer this "positive move forward". You may also want to carry banners for the media to know why you cheering.
I was thinking more of banners reminding the media that we are on probation, have a president no one has confidence it, have a president the largest newspaper says should go, have a funding crisis and are dedicating a building to house one of the smallest programs at the university. It will have to be a big banner unless there are many small ones.
Should we remind the press that we really don't have the money for the building -- we can only finish the first floor? Should we remind the press that the USM pulled 7 million dollars out of other university funds to start a building we can't afford to finish?

Here's a big banner that's not being used anymore (what a waste). Maybe it can be reformatted with messages appropriate for Thursday's big event. http://geocities.com/seemore004/31.jpg
