So, are there any activities planned for March 5 (the original Black Friday)? I think that someone should start a petition to rename the Liberal Arts bldg. after Frank and Gary. You could deliver the signatures to Shelby on March 5. Any other ideas? What about a silent march on the Dome carrying brooms (remember the "sweep the Dome clean" initiative last year?)?

This should be decided. When a holiday occurs on a Sunday the workers' day off is sometimes on Monday. What to do?

I like this idea, Monique. Everyone needs to decide on Friday or Monday. Or perhaps it could be a week of commemoration. Either way, the media should be alerted.
Any day that Amy decides for this will be just fine with me. But there shoujld be a more formal dedication when COAL structure is renamed the "Glamer/Stringer" building or "Stringer/Glamser" hall.

Heaven forbid that we do something during our free time. Would actually be more impressive to have a large turnout on saturday morning than to have it just before happy hour on a weekday.
AAUP is planning a general meeting on Wed. or Thursday (March 9 or 10), depending on room availability. I believe there will be a resolution AND we will be discussing the results of the recent Sound Governance Survey. I would also like to do something symbolic. It could be as simple as getting out those buttons, pins, and T-shirts from last spring and wearing them to the meeting. I would also like to do something (not vandalism) to a door of the dome or the president's office since SFT had the locks on Glamser's and Stringer's doors changed. These are just ideas. I'd appreciate your thoughts. The dates we have chosen for the March meeting are also meant to coincide to the next week's IHL board meeting.
We are also trying to plan something for an April meeting, too, (hearing anniversary and the IHL April board meeting), but we are still in the planning stages.
How about cardboard cutout padlocks, which could be hung over door knobs in the dome...there were be no vandalism or destruction to property...of course they could be easily removed...but what a great photo opportunity before they are! The could carry a symbolic label or "brand" .... a big gold "G/S" perhaps
it would also be very symbolic if faculty hung them on their office doors....they could "lock themselves" out of their offices in remberance of G & S being locked out of theirs.

Great idea! Of course, since Shelboo gets daily "campus rumor" updates, he'll now be on the lookout for such locks. I think that if there is going to be something done, it should be organized in some other way (perhaps a meeting where all who are interested could attend and get the word out via another way than this msg board?).
That's true, Truth...but once the image was created, these locks could be printed/reproduced very easily...and endless supply!! any time there was a faculty event, or ceremony, they could appear again....and again....

You lazy professors would rather do anything than work. I hope Dr. Thames has you all arrested for disturbing the peace. You all should be locked out of your offices and put out on the street to actually work for a living.
If you rally on university time, you're stealing money from taxpayers. Think of how that will look in the newspaper. It will be one more victory for Dr. Thames if that happens.

I suppose you think that faculty live inside the walls of the university in some sort of enclave and pay no taxes. These people are your neighbors, moron. They sit next to you in church and community meetings. They are tax-paying citizens of Mississippi.
Clyde, please be so kind as to post the names of those professors who failed you. I would like to propose them for some sort of national faculty award for recognizing the terminally stupid in their classes and not succumbing to the grade inflation pressure.
I think its really funny that you can seriously write some of the stuff youre writing. Youre like those wacked out liberals in Florida that claim mental problems because Bush beat Kerry. If things dont go your way just cry until somebody pays attention to you. Boo hoo.

A perfect example of transference. Psych and Social Work profs...collect this one for a classroom, textbook example. Whiner got failed by a prof. Boo hoo!

If you seen previous postings about grades at USM, you would realize that your statement does not put you among the elite. But heck, with a polymer science major you will undoubtedly become a millionaire anyway.
