The 46-page minutes of the January Board meeting are available at http://www.ihl.state.ms.us/admin/downloads/BdJan05.pdf.

Pages 1 and 28-29 list settlement amounts for three cases against USM by Paul Gospodarski ($8,500), William Odom ($10,000), and Debra D. Olson ($8,500). Pages 4-5 give the new SACS and accrediting agency reporting policy Crofts wanted, but it was pulled from the agenda without explanation. Various USM land acquisitions, building renovation plans, legal fees, etc., too.

Ach! Herr Odom sued USM? Warum?

Maybe this topic has been discussed previously, but I find it interesting the search committee's visits to the University of Georgia system and the University of North Carolina system, with each committee member sharing facts and observations.  Are they looking at systems or a person?

The new policy regarding accreditation was most interesting.

Crofts wanted the Commissioner to be kept in the loop about accreditation issues.

Judging from the decision to pull the item from the agenda, somebody on the Board wasn't so sure about that.

Any word about what happened at the Board meeting today?

What happens to Crofts in the next few weeks will most likely tell us what is going to happen to Thames.
