I realized that I have talent as a online news reporter/editor/columnist and as a photoshop flier artist. Thanks, Shelby, for providing the situation in which I could realize those abilities.

Kumbaya, my lord, Kumbaya. Isn't this thread so fuzzy and feel-good?

The dome emperor(=the paintmaker) is having FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Faculty unity really is a positive, and the one really shining thing to come out of all this. People who would never have met are fast friends, and I think many people have a new empathy for other departments and areas of university life. But that's about it.
In fairness to all, this statement from yesterday's HA editorial should be posted here. It provides one view of USM progress:
"As he has in the past, Thames cited increased enrollment and new projects as proof of Southern Miss' progress."
We know about the "increased enrollment" - An increase of 90 to 100 students someone said. The "new projects as proof of Southern Miss' progress," however, have not yet appeared on this thread.
FireShelby, and then AAUP, have provided a marvelous vehicle for faculty communication that never before existed at USM. This is a very positive thing that has occurred.
Students who never prepared for college and would never have attended a university are now enrolling. Who knows they may even pick up a Ph.D. in Economic Development before they leave. That's progress. If USM keeps moving forward as SFT leads, everyone in the state may have a degree.
A positive thing: We are thinking more about the artistic and aesthetic things in life - like naming the shade of a certain brand of green paint (I believe that Soylant Green will win out).
I love these posts. They are simply great! But surely some significant progress has been made at USM during the past two or three years or the IHL would raise its ugly head and shake its ugly tail. Please name something of substance that has happened good around here.

Some have been elevated to new positions that command a name on the door and a bigelow on the floor.
Departing faculty and staff have become good will Ambassaors for USM across America - GS to Texas A&M, FG to Tulane, TH to University of Houston/Victoria, and others to over 200 locations.
