In a recent article commemorating the life and work of Arthur Miller, the columnist recalled that Miller said the following while working on the Crucible: "the longer I worked the more certain I felt that as improbable as it might seem, there were moments when an individual conscience was all that could keep a world from failing."

As someone not at USM, I send kudos to all of the individual consciences out there.

Mrs. Willy Loman has two things to say: we must not expend too much energy quarreling among oursevles. Disagree, yes. Attack, no. We weaken our position.

Next. "Attention must be paid" to all the heroes starting with Frank and Gary, going on to Noel, Myron, the faculty senate, Amy, Jameela, Anne, Ellen, Jonathan, Ray, Andrea, and all those unamed on the board.

NO QUARTER!

I worked with Mr. Miller on two shows while I was at Williamstown. He was as impressive in life as he is in myth. I've seldom ever met anyone I felt confident had spent his life in rigorous self examination and whose wiritng and living reflected an ongoing search for the meaning of public and personal integrity.

In low key moments, he was also a very wry and funny man.

Mrs. Loman was remiss in not listing Stephen and the two Roberts among the heroes.
