This book looks like something I would like to order for our library......oops, I forgot, we have no money for adding literature to our library! My Bad! Never mind!

Brilliant idea, LVN. I would be delighted to buy a couple of books in my field that the library needs.

On the surface your suggestions seems just fine. I was once approached by the the spouse of a deceased USM alumnus who wanted to donate a large number of books to the library. I contacted the library in order to determine how that should be done. I was informed that they preferred not to have the books. I was quite embarrassed when I relayed that information to the deceased's spouse. I suggest that you approch the book donation thing with caution (unless it is a rare vintage collection). I should add that the experience I described occurred many years ago.
Thank you for that good reminder. Of course they don't want our old books. Maybe we could get a wish list, or people in various disciplines could ask about donating certain new books. Possibly friends elsewhere could donate books they have published? Certainly one would want to make sure the library wanted whatever was to be donated.
