How do we know he is withholding the information?  Perhaps he is just waiting until the right time to release it?  Let's take a deep breath on this one and just wait to see how it all plays out.

That's not necessarily correct, Another point. It may be that the memo contained more than one topic. Maybe sensitive information, to which the public should not be privy, was contained in that letter. Doty should not be bashed for this. We do not have sufficient information to make that judgment.

We also do not have enought information to make the judge that Doty is a hero and should not be bashed.  It is just as reasonable to beleive that, as someone else said, Doty dropped this bombshell, then stepped back to see how it all played out.  It's just as reasonable to believe that Doty is playing us all for his own benefit.

Until we have the facts, which Doty may never give us, let's not assume he's the good guy.

And let's not assume he's the bad guy, either.  But we have evidence that SFT is the bad guy.  No Freakin' Quarter!

How long does it typically take for an foia request to actually produce the document?

Can someone tell us what the difference is between a FOIA and the Mississippi Open Records Law?  I believe it will make a big difference as to which law is used as the bases for the request.  Isn't foia a federal law?

The Miss. Center for Freedom of Information's handbook is available at http://www.mcfoi.org/handbook.htm. It sets out the legislative history of the Miss. Public Records Act and how it relates -- and often doesn't -- to FOIA.
