My Marquette guys just took down USM, 81-72. We are struggling to find an identity and consistency, but we took care of Eustachy today. Thank goodness we weren't facing James Green --- he came up here to Green Bay last year at took us out behind the woodshed.
Get used to it. USM couldn't afford to buy out Eustachy's contract & he can just say he was "playing out" the talent Green left him. Never mind that Eustachy ran off some of that "talent" & brought in his own All-American grade players. He has an excuse.
It's not a good excuse, but it's as servicable as saying that booze was the problem when he got caught fraternizing with students.
With yesterday's loss, the Eagles fell to #216 in the nation (in the Sagarin Ratings). Their official won-loss record is 10-11, but their record on Sagarin is 7-11. The difference --- Sagarin doesn't count victories by a 1A team over NAIA clubs and junior colleges.
Larry Eustachy has now fallen behind the Green standard. JG was 11-10 after his first 21 games. LE is 10-11. The biggest difference is their C-USA records. James Green had a 6-4 C-USA record at the 11-10 overall point in his first year. Larry Eustachy is now 1-8 in C-USA play.
Another difference. At this point JG was 8-1 in Reed Green Coliseum. LE now stands at 6-4, and that includes games against Spring Hill and William Carey.
