Speaking of reorganization, it was suppose to "reallocate" $1.8 million form administration to academics. However they never remind us of the $4 million Lassen took from the department’s end of year money for_______ (administration?) and has yet to return it. I guess if they don't return it by May we can say they "swept" the funds and they won't have to correct us for saying “swept”.
I noticed last year that USM was not in any of the data that the Chronicle puts out about schools every year. I suspect this is another case of "we forget to report the data," or "nobody sent us the form." At the time I was irritated, because it looked as if we didn't exist. Now I think that Shelby and co. have probably never read the Chronicle of Higher Education--probably not even the huge piece they did about the Glamser-Stringer crisis. We're so world-class that we don't have to act like we exist.
USM should certainly be on the top 5 list for having the most boorish, crude, foulmouthed, inept, egotistical CFO ever seen in an academic environment. No real university would subject their personnel to the type of foul tyrannical rants put forth by Lassen in meetings with chairs and directors.

That surprises me. I would argue that Lassen is ill-suited for making academic decisions, overly political and somewhat arrogant but I never would have associated the criticisms you raised with him.

As an attendee at meeting of chairs/directors last week, I'd agree with the criticisms of "boorish, crude, & foulmouthed." I certainly don't have the cleanest mouth in the world, but at least I know better than curse like a sailor in a meeting of professionals. His ranting was offensive.

I am thinking that you mean Tim, not Maureen. I would not have expected it of either. I will assume it was out of character and attribute it to stress.
Of course, this may be one of those examples of subordinates assuming the characteristics of their leader. I hear himself has something of a potty mouth from time to time, too. In the vernacular: Monkey see; monkey do.
