But I'm with you, Dr. Young. You all know I'm a proponent of distance education, done well and in its right place. That's not happening here. You guys should check out Harvard's distance education website. They award "liberal studies" degrees, which are respectable, but would never be confused with an on-campus degree from Harvard.

What is happening at USM is misuse of a valuable resource, in pursuit of a questionable goal.

Ms. Lares, I am sorry that you feel this thread's name is inaccurate, but GW's Strategic Advisor is correct, and you have seen more proof today.

FS votes 39-2 to ask the IHL to find another president.

Roy Klumb says he won't take the resolution to the board.

Nothing will happen until and unless faculty fight dirty. It's time to open a can of trailer park whupass on the administration. I'm talking Sonny Corleone on Carlo Rizzi.

Nothing will be done until the Board decides it's too expensive to have Thames around. It's time to make it really expensive. Maybe a full-page ad in the state's major newspapers outlining USM's problems under Thames and an admonition not to allow your kids to attend USM while Thames is president (signed by the faculty) would do it.

Look at all the things you have to do to win. You have to sublimate your individual greed for the sake of the team. You have to conform to certain training rules that deny you the chance of having as much fun as your friends are having.  You have to provide total mental concentration. All those require a great deal, whereas losing requires absolutely nothing.
